Minamoto no Masako (源方子)

MINAMOTO no Masako (1066-May 4, 1152) was the wife of Nagamitsu FUJIWARA, who had the title of Chunagon (vice-councilor of state). She was a member of the Murakami-Genji (Minamoto clan). Her father was MINAMOTO no Toshifusa, who had the title of Horikawa no Sadaijin (Minister of the Left of Emperor Horikawa). She was a mother of FUJIWARA no Nariko, who had the title of Bifukumon-in (Empress to Emperor Toba and birth mother of Emperor Konoe).

After her husband Nagazane passed away on September 29, 1133, she entered nunhood in the following year and was called Echigoamako. She received the rank of Shoichii (Senior First Rank) on November 16, 1146. She passed away at the age of eighty-seven on May 4, 1152.
